Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how our apps handle your data. We collect as little as we can, and this page says plainly what each app sends and where it goes.

Most of our apps run entirely on your device and send us nothing. Supertitle is the exception, because explaining a word requires sending that word somewhere. Its section below describes exactly what leaves your Mac.

Apps That Send Us Nothing

Except where an app is named specifically below, our apps do not collect your name, email address or contact information, do not track your location, do not monitor device usage, do not store your preferences on our servers, and do not use analytics or advertising tools. Data needed for the app to work stays on your device.

Supertitle

Supertitle shows subtitles over video in your browser and explains words you click. Three things it does require sending data off your Mac.

What is sent, and when

What When Where it goes
The word you clicked, and the subtitle line it appeared in Only when you click a word, and only on the tier where we supply the AI Our server, then Anthropic, which generates the explanation
The title of the video you are watching When subtitles are fetched for you Our server, then OpenSubtitles, to find a matching subtitle file
An installation identifier — a random identifier generated on your Mac On launch, and with each lookup Our server, to run the free trial
Your licence key, if you have one On launch and about once a day Our server, then Lemon Squeezy, to check the subscription is active

The installation identifier is a randomly generated value. It is not derived from your hardware, your Apple account or anything else about you or your machine, and it identifies nothing except the trial period. Deleting the app's preferences discards it.

What our server keeps

Our server stores counters only: the date your trial began, and how many lookups an installation or licence has made in a given day or month. These exist to run the trial and to limit abuse, and they expire automatically. We do not store the words you look up, the sentences they came from, or the videos you watch.

What stays on your Mac

Your preferences and per-video subtitle timing are stored in the app's own settings. Your licence key and any API key you provide are stored in the macOS Keychain. Explanations you have already seen are cached on disk so the same word is not looked up twice; that cache lives in your Library folder and is never sent to us. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Permissions

Supertitle asks for permission to send Apple Events to your browser. This is used only to read the current playback position and page address so subtitles stay in sync. It is not used to read your browsing history, your tabs or anything else.

Third-Party Services

Supertitle relies on the following services. Each has its own privacy policy, which governs what it does with data it receives.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment processing, billing and any applicable tax. Your payment details go to them, never to us — we never see or store your card information. To cancel or request a refund, use the link in your purchase email or contact us and we will help.

Your Data

Because we do not hold accounts or store the content of your lookups, there is very little of yours for us to hold. If you would like the counters associated with your installation or licence deleted, or want to know what is stored against it, write to us using the button below and we will action it.

Changes to This Policy

If we change our privacy practices, we will update this page and the date above. We encourage you to review it periodically.
